Sick puppy.

So I'm sick. I started feeling it already on Saturday when we were watching Lord of the Rings, but I thought it was just the feeling of being tired since it was so late, but on Sunday morning I woke with a high fever. I never take my temperature and just a little bit of fever is high to me. The way I know I have one is that I talk a lot of nonsense basically. I'm still recovering, but I am starting to be able to do some things today. Put the dishes in today. Simo is helpful and takes care of me so that's good. I'm just taking it easy before going to Essen, Germany on Thursday, for the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2 convention. Can't wait, so I don't want to be sick for that. I'm a little bit bummed about not really being able to paint, since I have a deadline and all, but what can I do?

A teary farewell.

You know that part in LOTR "Return of the King" when Frodo says: "We set out to save The Shire, Sam. And it has been saved. But not for me", and you can't keep your face straight for all the crying? C'mon, I know you do. Well, it was extra sad this time, on Saturday - when it was the last time our movie club would watch Lord of the Rings together. It's been cool since two of the members had never seen them before, for me then it's like seeing them all over again in a way, 'cause you're so exited about their reaction to the movie. So the next movie night we will have will be in August and the rest of the Star Wars (original trilogy) films. Can't wait for that either! So after the film this Saturday, we couldn't quite let go, so we decided to watch a bit of the Making of LOTR as well and dicovered that the time had become 02.30 before we broke off the fellowship. Ah...good times.

Tall ships and Chinese.

My dad has been here for a few days and left on Saturday, on to Nice for a little holiday. It's been nice. I've still been able to paint, woken up early in the morning before going on our adventures during the day. On Wednesday we went to the harbour in Helsinki 'cause there was a Tall Ships Races of Helsinki going on there. There were sail ships from all over the world represented there, and some of them had a really cool old fashioned look to them. On Thurday Simo joined us in the center and we had a great lunch at a Chinese restaurant. I like Chinese, and it's been a while since I had it last. It's always nice to have your family visiting. Next time will be for my first art solo exhibition in September.

"They never call me!"

On saturday I met a dear friend of mine, whom I worked with a few years ago. We hadn't seen each other for about a year, and lots of catching up was needed! I contacted her, after she had written something on Facebook about how we are so eager to stay connected these days, that we can't meet in person, in risk of not being available to people on the internet. This really had me thinking. How real is the birthday wishes you get, when you KNOW that they would never happen if Facebook didn't remind you of them? My last birthday I actually wanted to write on my status that what I want for birthday this year is a PHONE CALL! I wonder how many would actually take the time to grant that wish. Some people I know always say that they don't have any friends any more and that just random people are requesting them on Facebook and you sort of feel like another number on their list. "They never call me" some people say - "I don't have any friends". To be honest I think real friendship is in jeopardy. We have forgotten to pick up that phone, have that lunch with that friend you "never meet". I don't wanna be that person.

One doughnut to rule them all...

Aaaand we're continuing on our Lord of the Rings movie night, my girls and I. My projector is fixed and ready to use again after a horrific discovery when it suddenly just showed small squares when I turned it on. I bought it in the States when was there last summer and the company was so helpful and friendly and sent me another one. After a small nightmare with the customs here, called "tullposten" here in Finland which quite literally means joke-post in Norwegian, I FINALLY had it back and we were ready to enjoy the greatest collection of hot fantasy boy band guys of all time on the big screen. One of me friends Henna, had even baked doughnuts for is, with gold layer and the dark writing of Mordor! One doughnut to rule them all...*nerds* They had white chocolate and were so good! After the ending of this film it's a little bit like "WHEN CAN WE SEE THE LAST ONE?!?" and so we already decided the date, and man am I happy it's soon! We also had a look at the first episode of "Wilfred" starring Elijah Wood. Simo and I have seen all the episodes so far, and it's on it's 3rd season. I can highly recommend this series, especially if you love dogs and have a bit of dark, twisted humour.
